My name is Angel Rodriguez and I'd like to tell you a little bit about myself. I'm just an ordinary guy that picked up running 2 years ago to lose weight. In that year, I also lost my brother-in-law, an avid runner, to cancer. So to honor him and his fight, I ran the 2014 Broad Street Run for the Philadelphia ACS DetermiNation Team to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Since then I've run in a few half marathons, 5Ks, a Spartan Race and ended the racing season completing the full 26.2 miles in the Philadelphia Marathon. By no means am I an "elite athlete". Again, I'm just an ordinary guy...but I do believe ordinary people can do extraordinary things.

So I'd like to do something different, fun and more challenging. On December 5th, 2015, I am going to run what is called the "Rocky 50K". It is a course mapped out and based on the scenes from the film "Rocky II", the famous training run up the Art Museum steps surrounded by cheering kids. This is a completely unsanctioned run. No street closures, no awards or medals, no food or water...absolutely no help. Just your physical endurance. Your mental will & determination...and 31 miles of Philadelphia streets.

I promise you all, I will put in the work. I will log hours cross training & miles running. I will face and overcome the mental & physical challenge of the 50K. I will do all the hard work. All I ask for is your help giving the gift of childhood by making a small donation to support the Cancer Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. And please, help me reach my fundraising goal by sharing this story & event with your family and friends.

Thank You,

Angel
