Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is organizing its 9th international surgical mission to Guatemala in 2021 and we need your help!
A team of surgeons, anesthesiologists and nurses will travel to Guatemala to provide surgical care for the indigenous children of rural villages in the northwest highlands. From past mission trips, we’ve learned the expertise and surgical care our team provides is a rarity for them because of economics, remote locations and language barriers.
Each year, a small but dedicated group of CHOP employees perform 70 to 90 operations during its weeklong mission trip – including many cleft lip and palate surgeries. Since its inception, CHOP’s international surgical mission trip has helped more than 700 children, improving their physical functioning and overall quality of life.
Our young patients can be provided with all aspects of their medical care, transportation and housing for $450 each. This includes the family’s travel from their village, room and board for the time their child is being treated, as well as complete medical evaluation and surgery for their child.
Generous donors fund our charitable mission work for needy families in Guatemala, increasing the visibility and reputation of the program. There are no administrative costs and every dollar donated directly supports medical care. Donations will be accepted until June 30, 2021.
Please join us in making a difference in the life of a child today!
