Team Captain Samantha’s Spinners Philly Spin-In 2022

Ride for Breakthroughs for Little Hearts!

I am raising money to support innovative cardiac research for kids at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). With your help, we can better understand the causes of pediatric heart disease, develop new treatments, improve long-term outcomes and offer new hope to families who need it most.

We have been participating in this ride for 3 years now.  Our daughter Samantha was born with a heart defect and was taken to CHOP within hours of birth.  Through the age of 19 - CHOP was our primary support for medical needs until she became and adult and we transitioned to University of Penn.

Without all the technical and specific moments throughout Sami's life, on December 15, 2020 - Samantha received a new heart.  Life was fragile for the 300+ days she spent in the hospital and rehab.  She still has some battles to overcome, but our girl is the pillar of strength and does NOTHING but always support and fight for the cause of CHOP.  WE RIDE FOR SAMI.  Our gym has supported us tremendously in the past so our team name became Samantha's Spinners because we not only ride for her, but our gym family does as well (Thanks Off The Grid).

This ride is an amazing event that we ALWAYS support, promote, ride ourselves and have had the pleasure of speaking at.  We are hoping this year Samantha will attend herself and be able to share a bit of her story.  If you want to ride - JOIN IN - Samantha's Spinners are believers and supporters of little hearts since they cared for our entire "heart" since birth!

Join the movement!

Why I Ride

  • Little hearts need us:  The world slowed down, but parents are still hearing the words “your child has congenital heart disease.” Yet 1 in every 120 babies born in the United States are diagnosed with congenital heart disease.
  • Together, we’ll create a breakthrough for every child: "The Philly-Spin-In not only inspires the Cardiac Center team to continue our pursuit of clinical excellence, but the funding the event generates also allows us to push new boundaries of research and patient care initiatives that help define the future of pediatric heart care." – Dr. Jonathan Chen

How You Can Help

By donating and helping us support little hearts through groundbreaking and innovative research and care here at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

“From the bottom of all the hearts we touch, from the bottom of all the hearts we work on, from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you.”
