Evelina Capelli

Team Captain Team Evelina 2017 Parkway Run & Walk

My name is Evelina Capelli and I am walking to raise money to fight childhood cancer and fund lifesaving research and innovative care at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.  Join me to help make a difference today!

Why this is so important to me:

On April 22, 2016 I was diagnosed with cancer. My doctors found a malignant tumor along my spine. This resulted in an autoimmune response (Opsoclonus Myoclonus syndrome) in which my body attacked my brain. My balance and coordination were affected and at two years old I lost the ability to walk. Thankfully I live close to one of the best children's hospitals in the world. I was able to have the tumor removed. Although I still receive IV medications to treat the autoimmune issue, I am doing great and am able to run, jump and enjoy life!

Now I want to help other children with cancer. 1 in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer by the time they’re 20 years old.
