When I was 5 years old, I was diagnosed with cancer and that changed my life forever. This is my 5th year participating in the CHOP Parkway Run/Walk. But this year is going to be different, because the weekend after the run/walk is my Bat Mitzvah. For my Bat Mitzvah project, I am raising money for CHOP so they can find cures for children with cancer. If it weren't for the great doctors at CHOP I wouldn't be here to reach this special time in my life. I hope the money we raise helps other kids survive and live long and healthy lives too. The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is one of the top hospitals that is trying to find cures for kids with cancer.
You should donate to CHOP because they are trying to find a cure for cancer. Imagine a world with no sickness. Imagine the face on parents when they hear the doctor say, "We can cure your child." CHOP wants to make this world a reality. The money we raise for childhood cancer goes to helping doctors, nurses, and researchers find cures and save the lives of children all over the world. When you give to CHOP, you're funding groundbreaking research that leads to life-saving treatments. CHOP can't do it without you.
Fundraising is one of the only ways CHOP gets money to help children. "In 2015, the National Cancer Institute's budget was $4.93 billion. It is anticipated that childhood cancer received 4% of that sum, or $198 million." "Prostate cancer receives more research funding from the NCI than all childhood cancers combined." As you can see, childhood cancer receives a very small amount of money. This is why fundraising is very important to CHOP.
This cause is very meaningful to me because I am a cancer survivor and I was treated at CHOP. I made a friend on my first day of treatment, but sadly, she died. I will never forget her. You should never forget the people not as healthy and happy as you. This is why it is very important to donate to childhood cancer. Thank you so much for supporting this cause.
Please check out my videos below to learn more about me and my story. The first one is my fundraising video that I made because I love music and dance. The second video is of a speech I gave at a fundraising event for the Wylie's Day Foundation to help them raise money for CHOP.
