Dear Friends and Family,

As some of you may know, we – the Whitelaw/Pipan family – can be pretty competitive with each other when it comes to games and physical activities. So when Brendan (the youngest) wanted to sign up for the 2018 IRONMAN Mont-Tremblant race, we couldn’t let him do it alone. More than a ‘fun’ family challenge, we want to make the time we dedicate to our training count for something beyond being prepared to compete in an Ironman, and we are reaching out to you to help us raise funds for the Trisomy 21 Program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The Trisomy 21 Program began in 2003 to support children and adults with Down syndrome and their families. Today, the CHOP Trisomy 21 Program offers a multidisciplinary team approach for the evaluation and ongoing treatment of the emotional, behavioral, developmental, and neurologic health needs of children and adults with Down syndrome (also known as trisomy 21). We are excited as a family to support such an extraordinary program that Mary has been a part of for over 15 years.

As we train throughout Philadelphia, Rochester, and Boston, our end-game on August 19th is the same: 2.4 mile swim; 112 mile bike; 26.2 mile run. By the end of it all, we hope to not only have risen to our own family challenge, but also to know that with your support, we have contributed to improving the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

 With enthusiasm and thanks!

Brendan, Michaela, Simon, Mary, and John (our most avid cheerleader)
