Twenty-two months ago we lost our beautiful son, Felix Lubin, to neuroblastoma, a rare cancer of the sympathetic nervous system. For two long years Felix fought courageously, enduring multiple rounds of chemotherapy, endless radiation and difficult surgeries, always without complaint.
Cayman born and raised, Felix loved the outdoors, soccer, surfing, fishing, reading and his sister, Cleo. Felix spent most of his childhood climbing trees, catching lobsters, cracking open coconuts and playing with his friends. There is not a day that goes by that we don't miss him with every bone in our body. To lose a child to cancer is to live in a world where the colours have been forever muted, where your greatest fear has been imagined.
Felix was seven and a half when he was diagnosed and nine and a half when he passed but Felix was wise beyond his years. Despite what he was going through, he always reminded us how fortunate we were: we had family and friends to support us and access to cutting-edge medicine. We hope to do Felix proud by turning our pain into something productive.
Cancer is the second leading cause of death for children after accidents. We are raising money to help conquer childhood cancer and support groundbreaking research at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) with the hope of sparing another child and family the desperate pain and suffering cancer causes.
100% of every donation to the 2021 Parkway Run & Walk will help CHOP make important breakthroughs in understanding the causes of childhood cancer, developing new treatments that will improve outcomes for children, and one day may lead to a cure for childhood cancer.
Please donate like your child's life depends on it, one day it might.
