PI(E) DAY IS COMING EARLY THIS YEAR!

Our daughter, Ella, was born on 3.14.09, and passed away just three days later due to complications of a fetal-maternal hemorrhage.  As a way to continue to honor her memory, our family has annually had dessert for dinner.  We would love to have you and your family (virtually) join us to make some delicious treats for dinner.  In 2021, our annual Ella's Pi(e) Day Celebration raised over $36,000 for the Social Work fund at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia NICU and allowed us to establish a fund in Ella's name.  The money you all so kindly donated went towards helping families that are struggling with the day to day financial burden of a child in the NICU, or who were unable to pay for burial and funeral costs on their own.

For some background - the average CHOP NICU family is there for 30 days and lives over 60 miles away.  That means 30 days of transportation to and from the facility, 90 meals, time away from work and many other unforeseen expenses.  For some, this actually may mean the need for alternative housing while their children are in the NICU.   We are asking you to support the Ella Rose Bauml Fund in hopes of continuing our mission to support CHOP families in need from these unexpected expenses from having a child in the NICU.

While COVID has yet again made us go virtual, we are so grateful that Chef Jake Cohen (IG @jakecohen) has again generously volunteered his time to teach a baking class in Ella's honor.   Since we last saw him, he has added the title of New York Times Best selling author to his already impressive cooking pedigree with the release of his cookbook Jew-Ish. We are so excited to have him back to teach us how to make a new sweet treat, answer all our questions and give troubleshooting techniques for baking mishaps.

Thanks to Mr. Cohen's generosity, ALL the money we raise will go towards the CHOP NICU Social Work fund.  We hope you can join us to celebrate what would have been Ella's 13th birthday on 3.08.22 at 730pm EST on Zoom as we laugh, bake and celebrate.   Zoom information, a recipe and a shopping list will be emailed separately closer to the event.  A huge thank you to our synagogue TBHBE for use of their Zoom account.

We greatly appreciate any amount that you can donate, but are requesting a minimum donation of $50 to participate in the Zoom class.  This year, we'll be having raffle prizes to some of our favorite places.  Each tier of donation gets you additional raffle entries, and more chances to win.
